On August 5, we left Cheyenne Mountain State
Park and drove to Blanca, CO. There’s not much there, but it’s close to Great
Sand Dunes National Monument. We drove into the monument in the afternoon, but
didn’t do much hiking, as Mike pulled a muscle in his back. The scenery was
quite beautiful: the green Sangre de Cristo Mountains in the background, the
huge white dunes, and the sparkling Medano Creek running across the base of the
dunes.
